Note: The following information was created and structured with AI support.
How it works
The application is designed to present research into export control restrictions as simply and directly as possible.
Instead of searching several sources individually, it is enough to enter the appropriate customs tariff number. The associated results are then displayed together on a single page.
Usage process
1
Enter the customs tariff number
The user enters the relevant customs tariff number in the search field of the application.
2
Display results
The application directly displays the associated restrictions, notes and relevant wordings in a clear overview.
3
Download the file
The displayed results can then be conveniently exported and saved as a PDF or Word file.
What is displayed?
- possible grounds for restriction relating to the entered customs tariff number (primarily based on the European Dual-Use Regulation),
- relevant wordings and text passages,
- bundled information at a glance,
- a direct basis for further review by export control.
- Note on the need for separate checks: The tool checks exclusively against the EU Dual-Use Regulation (Annex I/IV). The German Export List (AL), the chemicals list (CWC), the EU Common Military List, US law (EAR/ITAR) and EU embargo regulations are not covered and must be checked separately.
⚠ Important note on the scope of the application
The Dual-Use-Finder currently covers exclusively the
EU Dual-Use Regulation (EU) 2021/821 (Annex I and Annex IV) and the German Export List (Part I, Sections A and B). The following bodies of rules are
not part of this application and must be
checked separately:
- Chemicals list under the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) – chemicals of Schedules 1, 2 and 3; DOC
- EU Common Military List
- US export control law – EAR (Commerce Control List) and ITAR (US Munitions List)
- EU embargo regulations – country-specific goods and arms embargoes
- Common High Priority Items List – (CHPL)
The results of the Dual-Use-Finder do not replace a complete export control review or expert legal advice.
Advantage of the application
Everything in one file, everything at a glance: The information does not first have to be gathered from several portals, annexes or documents, but is presented directly and in a structured way in the application.
This significantly simplifies the research process. Employees obtain an initial overview more quickly and can use or document the results directly.
Export function
After the results are displayed, they can be downloaded directly from within the application. The following are available:
- PDF export for a clear documentation,
- Word export for flexible further processing and internal filing.
This makes it easy to save and share search results or use them for internal review processes.
In short
The application works on a simple principle: enter the customs tariff number, receive results, download the file.
This reduces a time-consuming research process to a compact and user-friendly procedure.
Note on development: This application is still under development and is being continuously optimised and improved.
